Happy Sunday everyone. I am enjoying a guys weekend with my 3 college roommates up in Sunapee. Having fun looking at pictures and just catching up. We all went to New England College in Henniker. Watching lots of football!
This week we are back to normal in the classroom. Testing is over for now and the kids did a great job. In Wonders, we are in Unit 3-week 5. Our genre is Expository text. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page. We will have a test on Friday. In math, we are beginning unit 5. It's all about fractions. Please keep up the good work with multiplication facts. Lots of us have been studying at home. I have put lots of multiplication practice into IXL so the kids can go on when they are at home. In science, we are starting our new unit on weather this week. In social studies, we will be starting our big presidential unit right after February vacation. We have our first community meeting this Thursday. It will be live streamed to the classrooms from the gym. We are honoring three of our students. Very exciting. We are working on an opinion writing piece and we will finish up this week. The kids are doing an awesome job. I tell the kids everyday that I thank my lucky stars that I get to be with The Dunking Doughnuts each day of the school week. We really have a special bond. The kids do their best at everything! Have a great week everyone. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Stay safe and healthy. We are a very strong class when it comes to that! See you guys on Monday morning! This week Good morning everyone. It is a sad day for us Patriot's fans. Buffalo was just too much for us. Oh well, wait until next year.
We are not doing Wonders for reading this week. WE will be doing two days of Aimsweb testing. These are given three times during the year. The kids will be tested on Reading and Math. We should see some nice improvement from September. We have talked about using the whole time for the test and do go slow and do your best. We will be testing on Tuesday and Wednesday first thing in the morning. I know the kids will "wow" us! We just finished our math test for unit 4. The kids did a great job. Please keep practicing your multiplication facts. We also finished up our science unit on animals. We did some awesome experiments and had some awesome discussions. Now it's on to weather. I hope everyone is having a good three day weekend. Too bad it will be bad weather for our day off. Oh well, enjoy it! Keep staying safe and healthy. The Dunking Donuts are doing a great job in keeping healthy. Thank you for that. Have a great week everyone. Good morning everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your "Blizzard Bag" day. Please don't forget to bring in your completed work on Monday so you can get credit for it. In reading this week, we will do Unit 3-week 4 in Wonders. Our genre is Expository text. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page of this website. We will have a spelling test on Monday the 10th on last week's word.
In math, we continue to work on perimeter, area and attributes of polygons. Please keep studying your multiplication facts. We have started fast math once again. The kids need about three more gold coins in their daily behavior bucket. Then Mr. Mud will give them a root beer float party that they earned. We will probably achieve our goal this week. Don't forget that Monday the 17th is a no school date. It is Martin Luther King Jr. day. The skiing day from Friday will be made up, so tell the kids not to worry. Enjoy the rest of the day. Be careful if you are on the roads this morning, it is slippery up here on the Mud Hill. Enjoy the game today. Don't forget it has been moved to 4:25. Stay healthy and safe and I will see everyone on Monday. Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a wonderful vacation. I know I did. It was a nice needed break and we all should be ready to tackle the new year. I will take it easy on you on Monday! ha, ha.
In Wonders, we will be on Unit 3, week 3. The genre is Expository Text. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page of this site. We will continue to study our multiplication facts and review addition and subtraction up to 4 digits, carrying and borrowing. Don't forget that skiing and snowboarding will start this week. Looking forward to seeing all of you on Monday morning. Please bring something to share or a good story that we will all enjoy. I can't wait to hear about your holiday adventures. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and enjoy the game on Sunday. Stay healthy and safe. Happy weekend everyone. I am writing to you a little earlier than usual because I will be away for the weekend. We are going to New York City for the weekend to get into the Christmas spirit. Driving to Springfield and then taking the train in.
This week we are not going to be doing Wonders. We will do other things for reading and finish up on our science unit. We do have spelling words to work with this week, but we will not have a spelling test. Don't forget that we have a half day on Thursday. We will have our party that day. We are going to watch "The Muppet's Christmas". We will do our gift exchange and Mr. Mud is providing pizza and drinks. If anyone would like to send in a snack please feel free. I know we have some cookies coming in and also brownies. If the kids would like to give little trinkets and notes to their Secret Santa they may do that. We are having a lot of fun with this. Teddy is also keeping us entertained. Our room is all decked out from our beautiful trees on the ceiling to all the other decorations and lights around the room. I hope you all have a great weekend. Enjoy the game on Saturday night. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and the best of a Happy New Year. Please stay safe and healthy. The Dunking Doughnuts have been doing such a good job. Enjoy the first snow. Happy weekend everyone. It is freezing up here on the Mud Hill which cuts into all of my Saturday morning errands. I will just have to wait a couple of hours. The kids probably told you guys that we hit a deer in Francestown on Thursday night going to visit my son Tyler. It just flew out of the woods. There was nothing we could do. The deer was okay but our front end was not! 5 thousand and change for the damage. We were not hurt, just shaken up. Mrs. Mud was driving her SUV. I think if it was my car it could have been worse! Oh well that is what you have insurance for.
We all picked our Secret Santa names. The kids said that they have all kept the secret. I hope the survey that Mrs. Murphy made with the kids will help out with the gift buying. The kids are so excited. We are also having so much fun with Teddy our elf. He was very naughty on Friday. Report cards should be coming to you on Wednesday electronically. Keep your fingers crossed. The Dunking Doughnuts did well. They all work very hard for us and we are always so proud of them. Wonders this week will be Unit 3 week 2. Our genre will be historical fiction. Our new spelling words are on the spelling page of this website. We continue in math on unit 4. We have started our fast math program. The kids work at their own pace. They get a minute to complete each table. When they have mastered twice, they get to move on to the next table. They are very excited about that also. The kids are doing a great job on IXL and Reading Counts. They are so good at logging onto the computers now. The first Blizzard Bag for the first snow day will be coming home on Tuesday. There will be work in the bag for the day. Most of it is reinforcement work and there is nothing in the bag that is a new skill and would have to be taught. They should read on that day also. The bag will be self explanatory. That's if we ever get any snow! Have a great weekend everyone. The driveway looks like it is melting a bit and Dunkin Donuts is calling! LOL. No Patriots game!!! Stay safe and healthy! Our class is doing amazing! Happy weekend to all. I hope you guys had a nice three day weekend. I had the chance to meet with one of my college roommates, did some shopping and decorated some more!
This week we are back to a normal 5 day week. Our room looks great. It is so festive and the kids did a nice job on decorating their trees. Teddy(our elf) came back on Wednesday. We found him sleeping in Snoopy's doghouse. He was very tired from his long journey. I guess he ran into a huge snowstorm. On Thursday he was in Gavin's tepee eating my oreo cookies! We know that he loves to snack and he is very mischievous! You never know where he is going to be or what he is going to do. This week in Wonders, we will be on Unit 3-week 1. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page and we will have a test on Friday. In math, we are moving on to Unit 4. The kids did an awesome job on their unit 3 assessment. Unit 4 will address multiplication, division and measurement. This week, the kids are going to pick names for their Secret Santa. They can buy their person a present and we will reveal the Secret Santas on the day of our Christmas party. Please keep the cost between 8 and 10 dollars. This year we are going to take turns telling what types of things we are interested in. (Thank you Kaylin, great idea). Last year the kids gave hints and little trinkets to their Secret Santa the week before the actual reveal. We will see who can keep the secret the longest. On the day of the party, we will get three guesses to see if they can guess their Secret Santa. It is really fun. For the party, I will treat the class for pizza. If we could get a few baked goods for the party, that would be great. We will be dismissed on Thursday the 23rd at 12:00. We continue to do an awesome job in the classroom. The kids are learning so much and they are excited about school. Thank you for keeping them healthy. I can't believe the first semester is over and it is the 63rd day of school. Time sure flies. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. No Patriots today, but it should be a great game tomorrow night. Stay safe and healthy and I will see you guys tomorrow morning. Can't wait to hear about your three day weekend. Happy weekend everyone. I hope all of you had a wonder break and a very happy Thanksgiving. Ours was great and of course there was so much food involved. Also shopping and decorating. We now have a tree in every room of the house. Mrs. Mud is still at it. We even found a Christmas Snoopy bed for Blue.
Please remember that the Native American projects are due on Monday the 29th. We will be sharing our projects with our classmates and then we will have our own museum in our classroom so others can come and view the projects. I can't wait to see all of the projects. Also, there is no school on Friday, so our spelling test will take place on Thursday the 2nd. The words are from Wonders, unit 2-week 5. They are posted on the spelling page of this website. In social studies, we will be finishing our Native American unit this week. The kids did a great job on this unit and they learned so much. We will also be finishing up unit 3 in math and we continue to concentrate on our multiplication facts. Kids should be studying their squares also. Example...2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, etc. Keep your fingers crossed that our class elf Teddy shows up. He is lots of fun. Very mischievous and likes to eat a lot. I will see all of you tomorrow. Enjoy the Patriots game today. Stay safe and healthy. Enjoy the last day of your Thanksgiving break. Happy weekend everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the nice weather. The outside illumination is almost complete up here on the Mud Hill. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. If your lights are flickering or seem to be dimming, blame it on me. LOL!!!
Our trip to the museum was the best ever. Our tour guide, Mimi, wanted to come home with us. She stayed with us right up until the last minute when we had to get on the bus. The kids learned so much and saw amazing artifacts. I am so proud of them. The workers there gave us all kinds of positive comments. Thank you kids for making Mr. Mud so proud of you. Please don't forget to bring your permission slip back if you are in the Book Club with Mrs. Howe and myself. Don't forget that the hands-on Native American projects are due on the 29th of November. It sounds like the kids have some great ideas. I can't wait to see all of the projects. We will be finishing up our Pueblo Native American group this week and doing some work about Pilgrims and the Mayflower. We will not be doing formal reading in Wonders this week, and we will not be having a spelling test. Please stay healthy and safe. I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with family and friends. Have a great rest of the weekend. Happy Sunday night everyone. Patriots win!!! Yes. I hope everyone had a great weekend. What a nice couple of days. My favorite time of year. I even started pulling some Christmas things out and started the outdoor illumination. Mrs. Mud literally takes everything down in every room and transforms the rooms into Winter Wonderland. We have a tree in every room.
The kids did a great job decorating their stars for the Veterans. We will send them to the VA in Tilton. Don't forget that the Native American projects will be due on November 29, 2021. There are so many ideas on line. We have looked at numerous projects in class. Remember to think about things in nature that can be used for scenes. Just Google kids Native American projects or go to Pinterest. The project is pretty wide open. I just want the kids to be able to tell their classmates and teachers what they learned from creating the project. If anyone needs some help or direction please feel free to text me. Please don't stress out, have fun with it! We will be going on our field trip this Friday the 19th. The kids will need a snack, lunch and money for the gift shop if you choose. Mrs. Mitchell's class and Ms. Brennen's class had a great time on Friday. This week we are doing Wonders for reading. Unit 2-week 4. The spelling words are listed on the spelling page. We will have our test on Thursday this week. We continue to work on math in unit three. Please keep up the practice for the 2's through 5's times tables. Kids may do IXL at home for 15 to 20 minutes a night. They love doing it in class. They are now experts at getting onto the computer. Keep up the great work everybody. Stay healthy and safe. Mud's Dunking Doughnuts are doing an amazing job. Have a great week everyone. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
