Happy Friday everyone. I can't believe I'm watching the snow come down like crazy on my birthday! Go figure.
We had a great class this morning on zoom. This should be the last zoom class of the year. Remember, we will be returning full time 5 days a week next week. Our spelling test will be in class on Fridays now. The new spelling words are posted on the spelling page of this website. We are taking a break from Wonders this week and exploring some other things. We will be able to catch up on presidents. On Wednesday, we will be taking our unit 6 math test. We will review on Monday and Tuesday. The kids will definitely be ready for the test. We continue to do fast math everyday and I am seeing lots of improvement on multiplication facts. The kids love fast math. We are enjoying our third lesson of the science unit. We are going to find out this week if we can outrun a dinosaur. The kids are very excited about this. We are learning everyone's names in cursive. We are starting with first names first. The kids can practice at home. Please remember to order hot lunch before the school day. I hope you all have a great weekend. I hope it stops snowing soon! Happy weekend everyone. It is a beautiful Friday, and Saturday promises to be the same. I hope you are all doing your work so you can go outside this afternoon and enjoy the beautiful weather.
We had a great zoom class today. Only one more zoom next week on the Big Guy's birthday! We completed four days very successfully. The kids were pooped because we worked so hard all week. We work very well together. I gave the kids a "free write" and the task was to tell me all about how they were feeling in regards to four days of school. They all said that they were happy to be back with their friends and that we had more time to learn more things! ( I loved that one !) In Wonders this week, we are on Unit 5 week 5. The genre is non-fiction. The new spelling words are listed on our spelling page on this web site. We will have our last zoom spelling test on Friday the 16th. In math, we will be finishing up unit six. We are hard at work on our times tables. Many of us have been studying very hard this week and it has paid off. The facts are now coming automatically for most of us. I told the kids to get flash cards ( or make them ). That way they can study their facts on the road or anywhere else when they have some free time. This will be our last week of music. Next week it will be on to gym. The kids are enjoying our science unit. This last lesson was about dinosaur fossils! We even went on a "fossil dig"! The kids are helping Mr. Mud pronounce all the long names of the dinosaurs. We are still hard at work on the presidents. Remember we will be doing our write-ups in class. A lot of us have our research done. We are learning so much about the presidents. Bob the Bunny keeps us entertained daily. You never know where he is going to be or what he is going to do. We are trying to trap him, but he is not falling for it. He is a very mischievous bunny! He has been reading the president books and leaves us funny letters on the white board everyday. I, like the kids, am very happy about being back full time. Lunch is working out great, and snack time is working too. We are utilizing the outdoors for snack when it is nice. If the kids want to throw a towel in their backpack, that would be a great help for sitting outside and snacking. Let's keep doing what we are doing! Please stay healthy so that we can stay in school. The kids have done an amazing job so far. Have a wonderful weekend. Looking forward to another full week with all of you! Hello everyone. I hope you all have a great weekend. Happy Easter to you all. Enjoy the time with your families and your Easter egg hunts.
Monday will be the first day back with both cohorts together. I am very excited about this and I know the kids are too. It may take a few days to iron out all of the kinks, but we will mange. The room will look a little bit different with double the desks. We will still have snack in the classroom, but half of the class will go to the cafeteria for lunch. That way we can be eating in both places six feet apart. Walkers will now be dismissed at 2:00 and then bus students. Please put the green name tags in your car for identification purposes. ( Only for parents who pick up and drop off daily ). Please have the kids wear school colors on Monday for Spirit Day as we welcome everyone back. Blue, yellow or anything with NBCS logo. Please make sure the kids have their math journals and their Communities books in their backpacks. We will now do GROW in class. The kids will be asked to read each night, and you will probably see one home link coming home for homework. Mr. Mud is not a big homework person. The kids work hard enough during the day. I will put the new spelling words on this website every weekend so kids can get a peak before our practice test on Mondays. No more work packets!!! Yippee! It looks like we will be back in school 5 days a week starting on the 19th of April according to the Governor. At least that's what's happening as of today. That means only two more zoom classes. After that, we will have our spelling tests in class on Fridays. This week in Wonders, we will be on Unit 5 week 4. It is historical fiction. In math, we are starting unit 6. This will be all kinds of strategies for all the operations. Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Keep studying those multiplication facts at home. We are learning to write our first names in cursive. Once we learn the first names, I would like to see the kids writing their name in cursive daily. We will start rolling out the presidents now that we have more time. I'm sure the kids told you about Bob the Bunny. He is visiting us for the month of April. Bob, with the help of some others really turned our room upside down for April Fool's Day. It was quite a work of art. Mr. Bridle and I have set a trap for Bob. I will keep you posted on any new updates or changes. Remember to order hot lunch the night before so the kids will get their lunch in school. There will be a lot more lunches to fix now here at school. I am looking forward to seeing all of the Mud's Munchkins together in class on Monday. It is really like the first day of school. I'm sure I won't get any sleep on Sunday night. Have a great rest of the weekend. Take care and be safe. We want to remain in school until the end of the year. Bob the Bunny says Happy Easter!!! |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
