Happy weekend everyone. The snow is almost gone up here on the Mud Hill. It was good to see most of you at the Lip Sync last night. It is always so much fun.
Mrs. Bradley will be putting a Sign Up Genius on line for the Valentine's party. The kids would like to do a breakfast. The food will have to be cooked at home and then we can warm it up at school. We would like to have breakfast starting at 8:20 right after the kids get in. I will send home a class list for Valentine cards. This Thursday is the Community Meeting. We will have 3 members of our class family being represented. In reading, we will tackle Unit 3 week 4. In math we will finish up our measuring unit. Have a great week everybody. Happy weekend everyone. We have about four inches of snow up here on the Mud Hill. Easy to shovel, light and fluffy!
I would like to thank everyone who donated to our class Sport Ball basket. It turned out amazing. The baskets will be on display this week at school and they will be selling tickets all week too. The baskets will be raffled off at the Lip Sync contest on Saturday night the 25th. This week we will be doing Unit 3 week 3 in Wonders reading. Our genre is Expository text. It is all about the solar system. In math, we will be working on perimeter and area. The kids continue to work hard on their multiplication facts. They all get so excited about "Fast Math". Ten minutes of practice each night should help tremendously. In Social Studies, we are talking about Civil Rights and learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We have been reading all kinds of stories about the Underground Railroad and the Civil Rights movement. The kids are very interested and it makes for some good discussion. The kids are hard at work earning "Paws" cards for their positive Bobcat behavior. Our next Community Meeting will be on January 30th at 8:30. Our class will have 3 presenters. Have a great week everybody. Happy weekend everyone. We have hardly any snow left up here on the Mud Hill. Lots of mud though! No Patriots game today?? What???
The kids did an incredible job on their Aimsweb testing. The growth for everyone was pretty amazing. I was very proud of all of them. Congratulations to our "String Crew". They did an amazing job in the concert. This week should be pretty normal for us. In reading we will be working on Unit 3 week 2. In math we continue with our measurement unit. Please have the kids keep studying their multiplication facts. They love doing the fast math. In science, we are still working on our "life cycle" unit. As a class we are still working on our goals for the month of January. The kids are earning Paws cards like crazy!!! Have a great week everyone. Happy weekend everyone. I'm sure everyone is still in shock over the Patriot's loss. Super Bowl will not be as exciting now without the Pats! Oh well, wait until next year!
We will try to get back to a regular schedule this week. We will be starting Unit 3 week 1 in Wonders reading, and we will be starting Unit 4 in Math. The kids should be practicing their times tables each night too. We will start our fast math this week. They will have a minute each day to do 12 problems that are all mixed. After one table is completed correctly three times , they can move on to the next table. It is an individual race against one self! The kids loved it last year. On Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th, we will be taking the Aimsweb assessments for for the second time this year. The kids will be tested in reading and math. Please encourage the kids to do their best. Try to have them get a good night's sleep and eat something for breakfast on those days. Mr. and Mrs. Bergen (our adopted Godparents) came in on Thursday with snacks and presents for the kids. They love visiting the kids and the kids love seeing them. Our next big them will be, The Presidents. We will begin that after February vacation. At the end of the unit, the kids will dress up as their president and make a speech for parents, grandparents and friends. This unit will take about six weeks to complete. I will let you know the exact date of the "Presidential Reception" as we get closer to the end of the unit. For the month of January, for PBIS, we are working on individual and classroom goals. Our classroom goals are self advocating, determination, and perseverance. It ties in nicely with New Year Resolutions. Make sure you check out our bulletin board which is entitled, "What a Snowman Shouldn't Do". The kids came up with some cute ideas. Have a great week everyone. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
