Happy weekend everyone. I hope everyone is going to have a good Sunday. Patriot's game at 1:00. Looks like it is snowing lightly outside.
This week is a short week. Please remember that the kids will be dismissed for Christmas break on Wednesday at 12:00. They will return on January 4th, Monday. For the two class parties, I have arranged to get pizza for the kids. It was tough because nobody is open early enough to make pizza by 11:30, but New Boston Pizza came through. If the kids do not prefer pizza, they can still bring their own lunch or order hot lunch. I also have drinks and a dessert. Please have the kids bring in their Secret Santa gifts. Cohort A on Monday or Wednesday, and Cohort B on Tuesday. Remember to wrap the gift and put the name of your Secret Santa on the tag. Leave from, blank. We will guess to see who kept the secret. Also, the kids may want to bring in an extra bag to bring home their extra stuff that they get at the party. We will not be doing a Wonders unit this week. We will be doing some fun Christmas activities in Language Arts. We will also do some fun science and some fun math. We will have spelling words to work with just for fun at school. There is no spelling test this week. I was so proud of cohort B on our remote learning day on Thursday. They worked hard in both reading and math class. Cohort B also has their work written down for Monday. Also for both cohorts, there is a snow day class in the Goggle classroom. The kids can check it out for optional fun activities. Down below is the link for Mrs. Charles's winter read-a-louds. Some very good stories. Again, I can not tell you how thankful and lucky I am to be working with such great kids. They make my day everyday. They all work so well together. We learn so much and we also have fun. If I have learned anything in these "different" times, I have realized that it is so important to value and appreciate the little things in life! I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please stay safe and healthy on vacation. I can't wait to start off the new year with Mud's Munchkins! Remember if you have any questions or you just want to chat, you can text me or call me. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone. Listen to Christmas music, bake cookies, wrap presents, play outside in the snow, and watch Christmas movies. We all need to do that! Happy weekend everyone. It is very foggy up here on the Mud Hill. At least the driveway didn't freeze up. There is no Patriot's game today. The Chiefs and Dolphins will probably be the game of choice for me.
Report cards will be coming home on Monday and Tuesday. The kids all deserve an "outstanding" for effort and just good all around behavior. They have worked so diligently and they really do a great job despite all that is going on around us. Please don't forget to have the kids bring back their library books this week. They will be able to get new ones and this way they will have them for the Christmas break. Don't forget those reading counts test. This week in Wonders, we will be tackling unit 3 week 3. The theme is expository text. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page of this class website. IN math, we continue to study our 2's, 5's, and 10's times tables. We are working very hard on borrowing and carrying up to three digits. We will also learn some new and different strategies for subtraction and addition this week. In science, we continue our weather unit. In social studies, we are working on finishing up our Native American unit and we are learning all about the United States through GROW. I hope the kids are keeping you updated about Teddy our mischievous elf. He really makes a mess and loves to steal Mr. Mud's snacks. The kids are getting a kick out of his naughty ways. We really have so much fun with Teddy. Our room looks so festive and we continue to keep busy before the well deserved Christmas break. Please keep safe and healthy. I will see you guys tomorrow. Happy Sunday everyone. We finally have some snow on the ground. Up here on the Mud Hill there are tree branches down everywhere. I guess I know what I'll be doing this afternoon.
The Native American projects were very impressive. The kids did a great job sharing the projects with their classmates. We have placed the projects down in the gym, so other classes in the school may few them at their own leisure. Thank you for a wonderful job everyone. So much creativity. This week in Wonders, we will be on Unit 3 week 2. The genre is Historical Fiction. The new spelling words are listed on the web site under spelling. We will have a spelling test on Monday and Tuesday on last weeks words. In math, we continue to tackle division and multiplication. Most of us have mastered carrying and borrowing up to three digits. In social studies, we continue on our Native American unit. We have two more groups to study. In science, we continue our weather unit. We started off looking at all the different clouds and we have a few experiments taking place in the classroom right now. The kids made 3-D Christmas trees for the ceiling and they turned out great. We've had so many compliments about how festive our classroom looks. This week for specials, we switch back to music. We even get to go down to the music room. Please have the kids keep up their reading at home and don't forget those reading counts tests. Also make sure the kids are studying their multiplication facts a little bit each night. Thank you for the great work, everyone. We are all getting through this together! Enjoy the Pat's game this afternoon. They should be able to pull this one out!Have a great day everyone. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
