Dear Parents and kids,
I hope everyone enjoyed their day off on Friday. We spent the day Saturday in New York City. The snow really added to the festive atmosphere. I hope all the kids will get a chance to play in the snow on Sunday. This week we will be very busy practicing for our Christmas play. It will take place on Thursday the 14th. You may come to the classroom at 6 for Open House and then go down and find seats for the show. Our Christmas party is scheduled for the 22nd of December on Friday from 1:00-2:00. We will be picking names and exchanging our gifts at the party. Each of us will pick a name and buy their person a present. We ask that you keep the cost around 6 or 7 dollars. We will see who can keep their person a secret the longest. Please wrap the gift and put to so and so from question mark. The room moms will post a sign up genius for food for the party. We are working on Wonders Unit 3 week 2 this week. Spelling words are posted on the spelling page. In math we are working towards our unit 3 assessment. Dear Parents and Kids,
Happy December. Let's hope for some Christmas snow. While you are out shopping, please don't forget to buy something for our class basket. Our theme is New England Sports. The basket will be raffled off at the Lip Sync contest in January. Our third graders will be donating to the Red Cross and to the Food Pantry in town. The money will be coming out of the Michaelmas Fund. The kids are doing a great thing by giving back to the community. The Native American unit is in full swing. The projects were outstanding. The teachers and their classes really enjoyed viewing them. Thank you everyone for helping out. We will be starting the Southwest Indians this week. We are finishing up our first big writing assignment for the year. Our personal narratives will be finished on Monday. The kids worked very hard on them all this week. About an hour each day. This is the first of three writing assignments for the year. They will be read and scored at the teacher workshop on December 8th. We will be starting Wonders Unit 3 week 1 this week. The spelling words are posted under more and then spelling. In math we are working on borrowing in subtraction using the traditional method. Keep on practicing those facts. Our Christmas party will take place on the 22nd of December. I will ask the kids what kind of foods they would like and then we will do a sign up genius. We will also be doing a gift exchange in the classroom. I will send a letter home this week about that. Our Christmas elf Teddy has returned. He is very mischievous and he loves to snack. We will keep a close eye on him. It looks like Mrs. Diaz and Mrs. Caron will be setting up the parties and the special days for us. You are always welcome to come into the classroom and give us a hand. the kids love to see new faces. The kids could always use journal help first thing in the morning. Important papers go home every Thursday from the main office, so check those backpacks. As far as homework, I will ask the kids to read 15-20 minutes a night and complete a home link for math. It will usually reinforce the lesson of the day. Sometimes there may be an ongoing project that will take place over the course of several weeks. I will give you plenty of notice. Please make sure homework is complete. No more than 20 minutes to a home link.If the kids have a hard time with it, just attach a note to the paper. Also, please check assignment books every night. That is where all the important information will be. Remember to send a note if there is a change of plans. This year's theme for school will be....I dream,I wish, I believe, I am New Boston. I have a new e-mail: [email protected] Sincerely, Mr. Mud |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
