Good morning everyone. Happy Easter. It has been a busy weekend here at the Mud Hill. A birthday celebration for this big guy yesterday and Easter today. The kids came with Blue for a surprise overnight visit. We also celebrated on Friday in class. Mrs. Mud surprised us with a cake.
We are going to stray away from Wonders this week. We will be doing some other things to prepare for the SAS test which will take place the week of May 9th. There are no spelling words for this week to be tested on either. We will work with words in class, but no spelling test on Friday. In math, we are still working on fractions and multiplication. In science, we are working with force. We did a fun experiment with push and pull last week. The kids got to make Hoppers and launch pads. On Friday of this week, the PTA will be giving us our ice cream party. We are celebrating our first place win. We also won 100.00 in books. Thank you so much for your generous donations. Have a wonderful Easter with your families today and have a great week ahead. Happy Sunday everyone. It is back to the chilly weather up here on the Mud Hill. Where is the nice weather?
We are so excited. Our class finished first place in the Book Fair. Thank you so much for your support. We won a class ice cream party and 100.00 dollars in books. The Dunking Donuts are very excited. This week in Wonders reading, we are on Unit 5-week 4. The spelling words are on this site listed on the spelling page. In math, we are working in unit 7 and practicing our fast math for multiplication everyday. Our presidential unit in social studies is rolling along nicely and in science we are studying forces. We received word that we will be able to take chaperones on the whale watch which is Friday, June 3, 2022. Because of 4 third grades the chaperones will have to be limited. There is a certain number of people that are allowed on the boat. We will leave school at 8:30 and return at 4:00. Chaperones will have to drive. If I get more parents than available slots, I will have to do a lottery to choose parents who have submitted their permission slip and check by the deadline. Please remember you must be finger-printed in order to go. The students' cost of the trip will be covered by Michaelmas funds. Captain Chris usually lets us know about what kind of weather we will be facing. If the waves are above four feet out there he usually has us reschedule. The weather 35 miles out to sea is always so different from the shore. If you are prone to sea sickness this is probably not the trip for you. I will let you know more details as soon as they are available. Kids will need to bring a snack and a lunch. There is food and drink that can be purchased on the boat also. Enjoy your Sunday everyone and have a great week ahead. Let's go Mets!! Happy April everyone. I can't believe we are already into April and the third trimester. Even the kids are surprised at how the time flies. It looks kind of cloudy up here on the Mud Hill. Where is the warm weather?
A big thank you to everyone who pledged to the Book Fair and supported it by buying books. The kids were excited all week. We retain our first place for the ice cream party and 100 dollars in books for the classroom. Again, we are so filled with positive energy and school spirit. Thank you so much. We couldn't do it without you. This week in reading, we will be doing Wonders, unit 5-week 3. The story is Expository text and the new spelling words are listed on this site on the spelling page. The kids did a great job on their unit 6 math test and we are now on to unit 7. Fractions, order of operations, liquid measuring and multiplication. We love math and we are very good at it. The room is all decorated for Easter and the kids made bunnies to hang from the ceiling. We will be getting together with Mrs. McNish and class to make our Easter baskets. This has been a yearly tradition. Hopefully the Easter Bunny will be visiting the classroom. In science, we will be starting a unit on Forces. Lots of fun experiments go along with this unit. In social studies, we are working hard on the presidents. The kids are learning so much about the history of the United States. We have earned a free recess, due to good behavior in special classes and our own classroom. We are waiting for a real nice day. Our next reward will be a movie day after we earn our 75 gold coins. I continue to be amazed at what the kids are doing and how they have grown this year. The amount of books that we have been reading is really mind blowing. We have read a total of almost 900,000 words in the last month. Keep up the great work! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone. have a great Sunday and a wonderful week ahead. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
