Good morning everyone. Happy Sunday. Filled with anticipation and anxiety as we wait to leave for UNH for the Conval Cougars championship game against Souhegan. Tyler's boys were the the third seeded team in division 2 and now they in the final game. Wish us luck!
This week, we will not be doing Wonders. WE will concentrate on everyone finding or picking a president to research. Some of us have picked a president already. I will be introducing all of them this week. After vacation, we will start our Presidential Unit. It is actually a mini History course. The kids are going to be presidential experts when we are finished with the unit. They are very excited to learn all about them. In math, we are going back to addition and subtraction with carrying and borrowing. Please continue to study your multiplication facts. It will make it so much easier in fourth grade. We will finish up our science unit on weather this week also. That has been a fun unit with lots of deep discussion about weather around the country. We did some fun experiments and hands-on projects. The kids are doing an amazing job in IXL and Reading Counts. Keep up the good work. Have a great rest of the weekend. Stay safe and healthy. One more week and then a well deserved vacation. See you bright and early Monday morning, kids! Hello everyone. Happy Super Bowl Sunday! It is snowing up here on the Mud Hill. Too funny after a day of 52 degrees. Another exciting Friday and Saturday of basketball. My son's varsity team is headed to the semi-finals at Oyster River on Tuesday night. If we win we go the the final game at UNH. Please send good vibes to us.
Tomorrow, we will have our class Valentine party. I have ice cream and drinks. Please remind the kids to bring their valentines and their boxes. They are very excited about the party. They may also wear red if they choose. This week in Wonders, we are on unit 4-week 3. I have placed the spelling words on the spelling page of this site. They are very tricky words this week. We will work with them all week. Our genre this week is Expository Text. We will be taking our unit 5 math test on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. The kids should do well. We continue to do our daily fast math also. In science, we are learning about the climate zones all over the world. We created maps showing all of the temperatures across the globe. We have had some great discussion. The kids will be picking a president to research before February break. This unit will be very exciting. It is really fun and the kids will learn so much. I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend. Enjoy the Super Bowl. If the kids stay up late, we will take it easy on them in the morning!!! Stay healthy and Happy Valentine's Day to all. Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you all survived the ice storm. My driveway will never be the same. Why can't we just get an old fashioned snow storm?
Please have the kids return their "Blizzard Bag" work, so I can give them credit for Friday. Another one will be coming home this week. Our Valentine's party will be held on Monday afternoon. The kids chose to do an ice cream party. I will get ice cream and drinks. We will talk this week about the kids bringing in toppings and a few snacks. I will send home a class list for Valentine cards also. The kids can be working at home on a Valentine box to bring for Monday. In Wonders this week we will be doing Unit 4-week 2. The genre is realistic fiction. The spelling words are listed on this site on the spelling page. The words are very tricky this week. We will have a test on Friday. IN math we are finishing up unit 5. We continue to do our fast math everyday. We are also focusing on fractions. In science, we are working on our weather unit. The kids can now identify clouds and they can tell you if it is going to storm. They are enjoying the unit. In social studies, we continue to study the states, bodies of water, borders, capitals, and the geography of the country. The kids will be responsible for learning all of their capitals in May. Some are getting a great head start through the GROW program every morning. Please enjoy the rest of the weekend. Stay healthy! Again, the kids are doing a wonderful job keeping healthy. Keep up the great work. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
