Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a great Christmas. It is icing up here on the Mud Hill. I just returned from New York City. My nephew, Mr. Chris and I went for the weekend to see all of the lights and to get a taste of the city. It was packed. So much fun!
Thank you all for the wonderful gifts and the fun Christmas party. The kids all had a blast. For Thursday and Friday, we will do some reviewing for our multiplication facts and tackle another science experiment. We just finished a Life Science lesson on how to control unwanted plants and bugs. The kids loved it. The kids were given several situations and they had to come up with various solutions. We will be doing Aimsweb testing again next week. The kids will be tested in Math and Reading. I know that they will all do their best for me. We will be testing on the i-pads. They worked out well last time. Don't forget that the kids can take reading counts tests at home now. Some of them have been doing it faithfully. I can't wait to hear about all the fun things the kids did over Christmas break. Have a great rest of the vacation. Have a safe and Happy New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Happy 2020! Happy weekend everyone. Sorry this is so late, but we have been out all day getting our Christmas on! Just realizing there is not much time left. Didn't even get to watch the game. It is taped for later.
Thank you all for coming to Open House. The play was amazing and Mud's Munchkins brought the house down. What a way to open the show. I was so proud of everyone! They had so much fun doing it. Please have the kids bring back their report card envelopes signed on the first line. Everything else may be kept at home. All of the kids did a great job this first semester. Thanks to all who signed up for the Christmas Party. We will begin the party at 1:00. We will do the gift exchange first and then we will snack on our goodies. Please feel free to attend if you are free. I will try to keep this week as normal as possible. On Wednesday a friend of mine will be coming in to make ornaments with the kids. It has become a yearly tradition. The kids would like to watch a movie for their Christmas party, but we didn't decide which one yet. Kids may do their little trinkets and clues for Secret Santa this week if they want to. Some have already started. Please remember to keep your name a secret. We will guess who at the party. Have a great week everyone! See you soon. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. It is freezing up here on the Mud hill.
The kids should have their Secret Santa names now and a letter to explain the process. Let's see you can keep their name a secret the longest. The kids have also chosen their menu for the Christmas party and Mrs. Bradley will be posting a Sign-Up Genius for those who want to contribute. Please remember that Thursday the 12th is our Open House and Christmas play to follow. Open House begins in our classroom at 6:00 and then parents may head down to the gym at 6:20. The play will begin at 6:30. The kids have received a letter for parents as to what to wear. The play is awesome and the kids are great. They have been working so hard. We will try to keep the next two weeks as routine as possible. Although Teddy, our elf makes it difficult to do that. He loves to snack and eat and he is constantly found in our food pantry corner and Mr. Mud's candy drawers. This week in Wonders we will be covering Unit 2 week 5. The spelling words are posted on the spelling page. In math, we continue to work on Unit 3. We are finishing up our Native American unit and we will do some more experiments with weather and the life cycles of animals in Science. Report cards will be coming home on Friday the 13th. The kids have been working very hard and they all deserve an Outstanding for effort. We will be donating a check to the food pantry in New Boston out of our Michaelmas money for Christmas. The kids should feel very good about this. We are all about community and this is a great example. Thank you for sending in extra sneakers and shoes with the kids. They may keep the extra shoes in class for the season if you want. Even a pair of slippers are good enough. Just as long as they don't have to sit all day in their wet boots. Remember that Reading Counts is now available to do at home. If you have any problems getting to it, just shoot me a text. Have a great week everybody! Happy December everyone. It looks like we are getting our first big snow storm. Could a snow day be in the works? I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had company from New York. Fun times. Now the house is being transformed into Santa's castle. I will be outside trying to start the snowblower!
We will be practicing for our play the next two weeks. We will have a dress rehearsal for the whole school on Thursday, December 12 at 8:30. Our evening presentation will be held at 6:30 with Open House starting at 6:00. Grades will close on December 3rd, and report cards will come out on December 13th. Remember you can always come in for a conference whenever you feel the need. I am available every morning at 7:15 and mostly every night after school except Wednesday. Just shoot me a text or come in and visit and we can check the calendar. We will try to keep the next couple weeks as routine as possible. We will be doing lots of other holiday activities and it tends to get a little hectic. Our Christmas party will take place on December 20th. I will ask the kids what they would like to do for the party and we will do a Sign Up Genius. WE will also be doing a gift exchange. We will pick a name out of a hat and buy that person a present. We will try to keep it a secret. Kids will put on the tag whom it's for, but they will put a question mark for whom it's from. We will get three guesses at the Christmas party. We will see who can keep a secret the longest. Hopefully Teddy the elf will be back this week. I hope the storm doesn't hold him up! We will continue with Unit 2 week 4 for Wonders reading. The spelling words will remain the same. Please have the kids start practicing their multiplication facts. We will finish up our Native American unit this week. The kids have learned so much about their Native American tribes. Have a great week. Enjoy the snow! Please drive carefully if you are out and about. Listen for any weather updates on Monday am. Please remind the kids about their homework assignment that is due on Monday or it may be Tuesday. Ha Ha. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
