Happy Sunday everyone. I just got back from Maine. We watched Mrs. Howe's daughter, Katie, play her next to last game in basketball for Southern University of Maine. It was senior afternoon and I was privileged to go down on the floor with her family as her third grade teacher. It was quite an honor. What a great weekend.
Thank you to everyone who helped with our Valentine's breakfast. It was amazing and the kids loved it. A great party was had by all. This week will be NBCS Pride week before vacation. On Monday the kids can wear blue and yellow(the school colors). On Tuesday, it is Animal print day and stuffed animal day. On Wednesday, kids may dress for tropical day. Thursday will be Camp Day and then Friday will be the parade of nations for the pep rally. We have the country of Italy, so the kids may wear red, green and white. It sounds like fun and the kids are very excited. On Monday afternoon, we will be walking down to the Historical Society with our first grade buddies. They have a special presentation planned for us. They love it when we come and we are treated very special. That will be from 1:00 to 2:00. In Wonders reading, we will be starting Unit 4-week 1. Our genre will be Folktales. In Every Day math, we are working on fractions and multiplication facts. Kids are still excited about their fast math. We have a hundred squares to fill in for healthy choices this month and the first week of March. We will be presented with a special treat if we all make our goal. This is a school wide event. Our Mystery Science lesson this week was all about the heart. We did a fun experiment and learned so much about our heart. Our read aloud book this week is "Danny the Champion of the World." I hope everyone has a great vacation. Safe travels if you are going afar. We will be driving to Florida for sun and fun. Have a great week everyone. Happy end of the weekend everyone. Gearing up for the Oscars. Another late night!
A few reminders for the week. Jump Rope for Heart will be held on Friday at 10:35. Also, our Valentine brunch will be held at 8:30. Please remember to have all the foods cooked and we can warm the food up if we need to. In Wonders reading, we will continue with week 5. Our spelling words will also be the same as last week. We will have a test this week. With the snow day and the two hour delay, this will work out just fine. The kids did an excellent job on their Unit 4 math assessment. Now it is on to fractions in Unit 5. Keep practicing those multiplication facts. Come check out our bulletin board. See the 100 reasons why we love NBCS. Monday, we will celebrate the 100th day of school. Don't forget that the kids have no school on Tuesday. Voting will take place in the gym. Have a great week everyone. Happy weekend everyone. I'm sure most of you are getting ready for the big game. We have a Giants fan in the house! Not sure how that will go over tonight? Anyway, enjoy the game. Just not the same this year!
Haven't heard if the groundhog saw his shadow yet, but it will be six more weeks of winter anyway. We did a fun experiment in Science this week. It was all about natural selection. The kids had fun with it. Great discussion and some great names for their animals. This week in Wonders, we will be on Unit 3, week 5. The spelling words are posted on the spelling page. Very tricky words this week. In math, we will do a review on Tuesday and then we will have our Unit 4 math assessment on Wednesday. The kids are still loving their fast math. Everything is filled for the Valentine's Brunch. We just need everything cooked before it is brought in. Then we can heat up food items here. I will send home a class list this week for names. The kids are also responsible for making a box or any kind of container to hold their valentines. at home. It can be decorated anyway they choose. Think "out of the box"! If you need any paper or decorating materials, let me know. Can't believe it is only three more weeks until winter break. We are more than halfway through the school year. This Friday will be the 100th day of school. We continue to grow and learn as a family. Have a great week everybody!! No snow in sight! |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
