I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Yesterday was the perfect Saturday. We got so much done outside. Today looks like a good shopping day or an inside work day.
Report cards will be coming home on Monday and Tuesday. The kids have done a wonderful job despite the challenges that the hybrid model has presented. I am looking forward to next week when we can all be together. The room is all ready and the changes are ready to take place. I know the kids are very excited! In Wonders this week, we are in unit 5 week 3. Please remember the wonder story switches over to the next week on Saturday. The spelling words are listed on the spelling page. We will have our spelling test on Friday in zoom class. This week in math, we will take our unit 5 assessment. We will be reviewing on Monday and Tuesday. In science, we are starting our animal unit. In social studies, we are continuing our presidential unit. Louis the Leprechaun has been keeping us entertained daily. He has been trying to escape with all of our gold. I hope the kids have been telling you about all the adventures. This week we are going to make Easter baskets in anticipation of the Easter Bunny visiting. Please have the kids keep up the great work with ixl, reading counts and Type To Learn. We have been going on in class. Have a good rest of the weekend. Happy Sunday everyone. We had a great week in school. We got so much accomplished. We did some fun activities for St. Patrick's Day. We were a sea of green. This week for Wonders Reading, we will be in unit 5 week 2. The spelling words are posted on the spelling page of this site. In math, we continue to work on fractions and multiplication. We will be preparing for our unit assessment which will take place next week. In social studies, we are plugging along with the presidents. The kids are really into this unit. In science, we will be starting our animal unit. Please keep the kids reading at home so they can keep track of their chapters read. We need our dog to pull up a bit in the Iditaread. Also, don't forget that the kids can go on to Learning. com and do typing and keyboarding lessons at home. The kids that have gone on were very excited about it. Remember reading counts and ixl are also available at home. This weeks special days are appreciating poetry on Monday and wear your favorite color on Thursday. This week we are in Wonders unit 5 week 1. It is fantasy genre. The spelling words are listed on the spelling page on this site. We will have a spelling test Friday morning in zoom class. In math, we continue to study fractions, area and perimeter. Please keep practicing your multiplication facts. We worked on the square facts this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the kids can wear green for the "wearin of the green contest". We will have a fun activity to do for St. Patrick's Day. We are still plugging along on our presidential unit. The kids are really learning so much about the history of the United States. If you haven't already heard, April 5th will be the date for all kids coming back to school. I will have both cohorts for four days, and we will still have zoom class on Fridays. I know the kids are very excited, and we have had lots of great discussion on what will be different. Let's all keep doing what we have been doing. Everyone has been doing an exceptional job. We want to remain open for the rest of the school year. The kids have been so good at following the rules and wearing their masks. I look forward to spending the rest of the year with all of them. The kids continue to do a great job in school. We are accomplishing so much in our short time together. The kids are getting ready for fourth grade. This week, we will be in Wonders reading unit 4 week 5. It is a poetry unit. Should be fun for the kids. The spelling words are posted on the spelling page of this site. In math, we continue to work on fractions, area and perimeter. Please have the kids keep practicing their multiplication facts. This is very important for fourth grade. Our presidential unit is progressing nicely. I hope you all saw the beautiful picture of our presidents in the hallway on Bloomz. The kids did an outstanding job. The month of March this year is "I Love to Read Month". Our big challenge will start on Wednesday the 10th. It will be the Iditaread Challenge. Grades three and four will work together. We will be tracking the number of chapters kids will be reading in school and at home. There will be "huskies" pulling "dogsleds" around the walls of the school racing to the finish line. It sounds like a great challenge and lots of fun for the kids. There will also be special days that the kids can participate in. On Friday the 12th for Zoom class, the kids can dress up as their future career. I am looking forward to seeing the different outfits. Please remember, the kids have no school on Tuesday. The teachers will be in school for a scheduled teacher workshop. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. We are going to visit Ryan's Sugar Shack in Chester this afternoon. I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
