I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful end of the year words and presents. I am one lucky guy. It has been one of the best years ever. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer. The kids deserve it. I will be at school three days a week starting on July 10th. Please keep in touch.
Check the website every once in awhile for the update on classes for next year. Once the enrollment settles down in August, the office will be sending out placement letters. Thank you all for making this year one of the best ever!!! The last week of school. How can that be possible??? We will keep the four days as normal as possible. We are finishing up math and finishing up our state unit.
I hope all the Dads had a great Father's Day. It sounds like everyone had a great weekend. On Tuesday morning is the Awards Ceremony in the gym. On Wednesday, we will be going to the Historical Society to finish part one of our first trip. We will be traveling with our first grade buddies. On Thursday at 11:15, we will be having an ice cream party to end our year in third grade. Feel free to attend if you would like. I will be making a special presentation to the class. I will be around all summer and I will be teaching summer school. I will be at school three days a week from 7:30 to 12:30. Please feel free to keep in touch. Have a great summer everyone! You deserve it! The whale watch was awesome. We haven't seen humpback whales in a long time. That was the closest I have ever been to a humpback. Thank you to all of the parents who chaperoned. The kids had a blast and they are still talking about it.
Don't forget that the state boxes are due on Tuesday the 12th. If you do not have three things in your box from your state yet, do not panic. We will work on it. Field Day is Thursday. We are looking for volunteers. There is a sign up genius on line that Ms. Baines out out there. We are on the field all morning and we could use some help for games. The BBQ is held right afterwards for everyone. Happy June to all. It is hard to believe that we only have about 15 school days left to the year. We are all very sad in Mud's class.
This week we are doing small research projects on whales. We will do research, write a report, and share out to the class. Please do not forget to have the kids dress in layers for the whale watch on Friday. We will arrive back at school around 4:30. Right now the weather looks nice, but cool. Remember it is sometimes 20 degrees cooler 45 miles out into the ocean. The kids will need a snack and a lunch. they do serve all kinds of snacks and drinks on the boat. There are also limited souvenirs for sale on the boat. If you are chaperoning, it will be up to you to drive or to car pool with someone. There will be room for two or three chaperones on the bus. I will have directions for GPS's. The kids are all looking forward to the trip. We are working very hard on the states and their capitals. On our first capital test I was so impressed. We had 9 kids get all 50 already. The others are very close. Kids should be decorating a state box at home. They will need to put two or three things in the box from their state. they have lots of ideas. I found some state stuff this weekend at the flea markets that I will share with the kids. We are on the last unit of Wonders Reading, and we are also on the last unit of Wonders Math. |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
