Happy weekend everyone. I hope all of you had a wonder break and a very happy Thanksgiving. Ours was great and of course there was so much food involved. Also shopping and decorating. We now have a tree in every room of the house. Mrs. Mud is still at it. We even found a Christmas Snoopy bed for Blue.
Please remember that the Native American projects are due on Monday the 29th. We will be sharing our projects with our classmates and then we will have our own museum in our classroom so others can come and view the projects. I can't wait to see all of the projects. Also, there is no school on Friday, so our spelling test will take place on Thursday the 2nd. The words are from Wonders, unit 2-week 5. They are posted on the spelling page of this website. In social studies, we will be finishing our Native American unit this week. The kids did a great job on this unit and they learned so much. We will also be finishing up unit 3 in math and we continue to concentrate on our multiplication facts. Kids should be studying their squares also. Example...2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, etc. Keep your fingers crossed that our class elf Teddy shows up. He is lots of fun. Very mischievous and likes to eat a lot. I will see all of you tomorrow. Enjoy the Patriots game today. Stay safe and healthy. Enjoy the last day of your Thanksgiving break. Happy weekend everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the nice weather. The outside illumination is almost complete up here on the Mud Hill. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. If your lights are flickering or seem to be dimming, blame it on me. LOL!!!
Our trip to the museum was the best ever. Our tour guide, Mimi, wanted to come home with us. She stayed with us right up until the last minute when we had to get on the bus. The kids learned so much and saw amazing artifacts. I am so proud of them. The workers there gave us all kinds of positive comments. Thank you kids for making Mr. Mud so proud of you. Please don't forget to bring your permission slip back if you are in the Book Club with Mrs. Howe and myself. Don't forget that the hands-on Native American projects are due on the 29th of November. It sounds like the kids have some great ideas. I can't wait to see all of the projects. We will be finishing up our Pueblo Native American group this week and doing some work about Pilgrims and the Mayflower. We will not be doing formal reading in Wonders this week, and we will not be having a spelling test. Please stay healthy and safe. I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with family and friends. Have a great rest of the weekend. Happy Sunday night everyone. Patriots win!!! Yes. I hope everyone had a great weekend. What a nice couple of days. My favorite time of year. I even started pulling some Christmas things out and started the outdoor illumination. Mrs. Mud literally takes everything down in every room and transforms the rooms into Winter Wonderland. We have a tree in every room.
The kids did a great job decorating their stars for the Veterans. We will send them to the VA in Tilton. Don't forget that the Native American projects will be due on November 29, 2021. There are so many ideas on line. We have looked at numerous projects in class. Remember to think about things in nature that can be used for scenes. Just Google kids Native American projects or go to Pinterest. The project is pretty wide open. I just want the kids to be able to tell their classmates and teachers what they learned from creating the project. If anyone needs some help or direction please feel free to text me. Please don't stress out, have fun with it! We will be going on our field trip this Friday the 19th. The kids will need a snack, lunch and money for the gift shop if you choose. Mrs. Mitchell's class and Ms. Brennen's class had a great time on Friday. This week we are doing Wonders for reading. Unit 2-week 4. The spelling words are listed on the spelling page. We will have our test on Thursday this week. We continue to work on math in unit three. Please keep up the practice for the 2's through 5's times tables. Kids may do IXL at home for 15 to 20 minutes a night. They love doing it in class. They are now experts at getting onto the computer. Keep up the great work everybody. Stay healthy and safe. Mud's Dunking Doughnuts are doing an amazing job. Have a great week everyone. Happy weekend everyone. It is only 25 degrees up here on the Mud Hill. It looks to be a very nice day. More outside work. Leaves, leaves and more leaves. Worked on blowing leaves four hours yesterday.
Halloween was awesome. Thanks for finding the house and bringing the kids up. I'm so glad the kids had the parade and trick or treating. We are into our Native American unit. We started with the Woodland Indians. The kids are really into the unit. We have talked about options for their projects and we have seen pictures of past projects. It sounds like some of the kids have ideas already. Remember the projects will be due on the 29th of November. If you still need an idea, let me know. Our field trip to the museum will be on the 19th of November. I will be sending home the permission slips on Thursday. This week we will venture away from Wonders' spelling words and have a special list of 12 words related to Native Americans. We will have a test on Friday. The words are posted on the spelling page of this site. In math, we are learning about division and concentrating on number stories. We are also practicing borrowing and carrying. We have finished all of the lower case cursive letters and we are now learning to write our first names in cursive. We already have kids using cursive in their journals. I really applaud their efforts. The kids are so excited about cursive. In science we are learning about fossils. This week we will find out if any of us would have been able to outrun a dinosaur! Remember, the kids will have no school on Thursday because of Veteran's Day. We will be doing a special project in class for Veterans also. Enjoy the Patriot's game today and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Have a wonderful week! |
I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
