Good morning everyone. I hope this Sunday finds you all healthy. What a beautiful weekend to get outdoors.
The exterior illumination for Christmas is finally finished. Now we will work on the inside. We will not be having our extended family from New York for this Thanksgiving, so we will be able to decorate starting Thanksgiving night. This will be a very short school week. I will see both cohorts for only one full day. Monday's cohort lucks out for a half a day on Wednesday too. Only cohort B will be bringing home work for Monday the 30th. In Wonders, we are working on Unit 2 week 5. It is all about poetry. In math, we will be taking our unit 2 test. The kids should be fully prepared for the test. Please keep them practicing their addition and subtraction facts and their 2's, 5's and 10's multiplication facts. Please remember that the Native American projects are due on November 30 and December 1st. The kids a great job researching the four areas of Native Americans that we are studying. They have learned so much so far. They have a better understanding of the roles that the Native Americans play in today's society. The kids know how to use Mackin- Via for research purposes, so they can do it at home also. Please don't forget to have the kids go on to ixl and to continue their reading counts tests at home. Our reading counts chart with all the stars is looking very good. The kids will all be coming home with a brand new dictionary. All of the third graders receive them. It is a project that the New Boston Grange does every year. There is a message attached to the dictionary that explains the project. The grange usually comes in for a big presentation, but unfortunately, they can't come into the school this year. The kids get so excited. They may keep them at home or use them in school. In this time of the year of family and friends, it is important that we take time to remember all the things that we are thankful for. I am so thankful that I can be in school with the kids in these unprecedented times. The kids have been amazing and I feel very lucky to be a part of their lives. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday. Whether you are alone or with family and friends, have the best Thanksgiving! Enjoy the Patriots game at 1:00 today. Let's see if they can get to be 5 and 5! Have a great rest of the weekend. I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
