Good morning and Happy Sunday. Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms and grandmas. I hope you are able to have a wonderful day with your friends and families.
Starting tomorrow, May 9th, Monday we will begin our SAS testing. This is a different kind of assessment than the kids are used to. We have practiced all week to prepare the kids. The tests will include math, language arts and a writing piece. The tests are done on the computers. The writing part of the test will be held on next Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th. We will not be testing on Friday, May 13. The writing part has two parts to it and I want the kids to do it back to back days instead of having to wait over the weekend. The kids are excited about the test, but also a little nervous. SAS testing starts in third grade. I told the kids to take the test seriously, but also to have fun with it. Please make sure they get a good night's rest and that they have something to eat in the morning before they come to school. If any of the kids want to bring in special treats or special snacks they are welcome to do so. All of the third graders will be testing at the same time. Our testing time is first thing in the morning for two hours. We will start off with reading on Monday and Tuesday. We will tackle math on Wednesday and Thursday. Please please encourage the kids to do their best. I know they will! We have three spots left for chaperones on the Whale Watch which will take place on June 3rd. Chaperones cost will be 25.00. The kids are all paid for with Michaelmas money. Our "Afternoon With the Presidents" will be coming up at the end of the month. I will send home an invite to the ceremony within the next couple of days. Have a wonderful Mother's Day everyone. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
