Good morning everyone on this beautiful Sunday. I hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. The pool is finally open and lots of yard work has been going on up on the Mud Hill.
The next couple weeks of school will be looking a little bit different from our regular school days. We will be focusing on our states and learning all about whales. Some of us have learned all fifty capitals already. Nice job. We have a quiz every Friday to see how many capitals we can get. Remember to be working on your state boxes at home. Tuesday morning, we are going to be treated by local author Marty Kelley. The kids are very excited about him coming to school. We made a special bulletin board for him having to do with messy desks. Thursday morning at 8:20 in the music room we will have "Our Morning With the Presidents." The kids did a great job on their research and they are ready to wow you. The presidents will speak in order and it should take about an hour. The kids may come to school dressed as their presidents and then just bring a change of clothes. I think Ms. Brown might be planning a preview of field day and it might involve some water. Everyone is invited to attend our president event. Hope to see you there. On Friday will be our whale watch. There will be a note coming home on Tuesday night. Our chaperones are all set. Unfortunately, it takes 6 to 8 weeks for the finger printing process. I'm asking that chaperones be in the classroom by 8:00. It would be nice if the chaperones could car pool because parking is very tight when we get there. The chaperones will be filling out some needed information on the Tuesday notice. Let's hope for some decent weather. Remember it could be 80 degrees here on shore, but 30 degrees cooler 40 miles away from shore on the ocean. Please have the kids dress in layers. I will try to keep the remaining days of school as normal as possible. LOL! We will be busy everyday. I have been invited to go on the 5th grade whale watch by the kids, so I will be away on Thursday the 9th. I will be taking Ms. Jenn's class and she will be with my class for field day. Mrs. Winchell is still looking for volunteers for that day. Have a great rest of the weekend. If you are traveling, be safe. I hope to see you on Thursday morning at our presidential event. I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
