I hope everyone is having a nice Memorial Day weekend. We were in Maine for the weekend and had an awesome time.
I would like to thank everyone who attended the Presidential Reception. It was the best show yet! I was so proud of the kids and I won't say a tear or two wasn't shed. The speeches were awesome and the kids commitment was outstanding. It is a day that they will remember forever. I hope that everyone learned something from the kids that they didn't know before. We have had 7 kids recite the presidents in order and a few more are preparing. Again, these guys set the bar so high. The reception was fun and the snacks were delicious. Thank you to all who attended the Community Meeting on Thursday. The kids and their buddies did a great job. I'm thinking Luke Bryant would like to see our presentation and what we did with his song. We will be taking our final Aimsweb tests this week in Reading and Math. Tuesday morning and Thursday morning. On Wednesday morning we will have our annual Memorial Day celebration in the gym at 9:00. It is really a touching ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend. We are all set for the whale watch. Let's hope the weather is good. According to their web site, they have been seeing lots of whales. The Radsox will be taking their Unit 7 math test this week. I'm sure they will all do a great job. For read aloud, we are reading Trumpet of the Swan and the kids are loving it. We have all picked a state and have started our state unit. The kids will be responsible for decorating a box and putting two or three things from their state in it. Anything that can be connected to that state can go in the box. I would like to have the state boxes in by the 12th of June. We have talked in class about the details and things that can be put in the box. We will also be concentrating on all 50 capitals. We will have a quiz each Friday. We can do this!!! We will also start our whale unit this week. We will research different whales and make classroom presentations. Have a great week everyone. I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
