Good morning everyone. Lots of heat today. AC is in and on. I don't mind the heat, but I can't stand the humidity. It will be better for the school week.
This week in Wonders, we will be doing Unit 6-week 2. Our new spelling words are listed on this site on the spelling page. This week we will also be doing our Aimsweb testing. We will test on math and language arts. The kids are very familiar with this assessment. In math we are finishing up unit 8 and will soon be ready for unit 8 assessment. We have started our State Unit. The kids are working on their flags and they are doing a great job. We had our first capital check-up on Friday. Our goal is to learn all fifty capitals. Some of us are already half way there. For a home project, (last one of the year), I would like the kids to create a state box. Keep it smaller than desk size. The kids may decorate their box on the outside anyway they would like. Flag, bird, animal, tree, anything. On the inside of the box, I would like them to find three things from their state. Keep it simple. Coins, hats, shirts, books from authors from your state, music, fruit, canned good, anything from your state. Pictures, postcards, etc. Remember , keep it simple and have fun with it. The boxes will be due on June 10th. On May 27th in the gym, our Memorial Program will take place at 9:00. Each class will preform a song. It is a very special event. Friday the 3rd is our Whale Watch. Please hope for a nice day. June 6th is our school wide reading challenge event at 1:00. June 7th is our last Community meeting, live in the gym, at 8:30. Our Field Day is on June 9th. Mrs. Winchell is looking for volunteers if anyone is interested. Ms. Jenn will be with my class that day, as I will be with the fifth graders on their Whale Watch. I am very excited. Remember our last day of school is on June 15th and it is a noon dismissal. Have a great day everyone. Stay cool! Go Celtics!!! Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
