Good morning everyone. happy last day of spring break. I am excited to get back to the classroom to hear about all the fun adventures the kids had over vacation. We did dog duty for my son and his girl friend so they could go off to Disney World. We did get to go to Connecticut for a few days to visit Mystic Seaport, the aquarium and visit with friends.
This week for reading, we will be in Wonders, unit 5-week 5. The genre this week is expository text. The new spelling words are listed on the spelling page of this site. In math we will be starting a new unit and trying to master all of our multiplication facts to prepare for fourth grade. In social studies, we will be wrapping up the presidential unit and writing our speeches. In science, we will be continuing with forces. This week we will be practicing for the SAS test which will begin for us on May 9, Monday, The test is a week long and the kids will be tested on Reading, Math and Writing. This is a very different assessment from which the kids are used to. It has short answer questions and a lot of reading. Please see that the kids get a good nights rest and have something to eat before they come to school. Our testing period is first thing in the morning for about two hours. I told the kids to do their best. Again, it is very different from the assessments we do in class and it is just one more assessment that we can use for data purposes. The kids are very excited to begin. We did a practice math session last week. I would like to wish all of the moms, and grandmothers a very Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy the last day of your vacation. I look forward to seeing you on Monday. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
