Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you had a nice first half of the weekend. We had dog duty since Thursday and we returned Blue to Peterborough yesterday morning before the bad weather hit. Now my driveway is covered with two inches of frozen junk which will make it just wonderful to get up and down until it melts. I have nightmares about our driveway!
On Monday we will celebrate PI-(pie) Day. The kids are very excited and we are already singing the PI song that gets stuck in our heads. Thank you everyone who decided to make or purchase a pie. We really appreciate it. Thank you for helping to create memories that the kids will take with them from third grade and remember a lifetime. In Wonders this week, we will be on Unit 4-week 5. It is a poetry unit. We will be discussing different kinds of poems and we will attempt to write our own. The spelling words are listed on the spelling page of this site. In math , we are in unit 6 and still doing our fast math. Please have the kids keep studying their facts for at least 15 minutes each night. We are also doing some fun experiments and math problems for PI Day. We have started our presidential unit and everyone has picked a president. We will do most of the research in the classroom. Most of us have had a chance to do some research already and we have learned quite a bit. We will take and study one president each day. We will study the president, learn about the First Lady, look at each house where they grew up in and do a little fun project for each one. If the kids would like a challenge, they can learn the names of all the presidents in order. When they are ready, they can recite them to me and the class. A very nice prize will await them. Remember that is only for the kids who would like a challenge. K.S. has already accepted the challenge and did an amazing job! In science, we will be finishing up our weather unit. We have one last unit where the kids will be constructing a house to stand up against bad weather and lots of wind. This week we studied hot air balloons and flight. The kids constructed their own paper airplanes and we had a flying contest. The next day we had our resident engineer, C.P. teach us how to make a proper airplane. Then we went outside and had a flying contest. The kids had a blast. Now it is time for C.P., K.S., and myself to have a championship runoff. We were the three with the longest flight. Over 25 feet! We are back into the cafeteria for lunch and the kids are loving it. They have done very well the last three days. Have a great rest of the weekend everybody. I will see all of the kids tomorrow for PI Day. Stay safe and healthy! Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
