Happy weekend everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the "blizzard"! If you can call it that. Oh well, it's nice to see the fresh new snow. At least the kids will enjoy it.
It's time for the snowmen to come down and the valentine birds to go up. The kids love it when we decorate the room and they are so appreciative. We had our root beer float party on Friday. They reached their goal of 75 coins and as a result received their reward. Now, we are going to pick a new goal and work towards something else. Some more exciting basketball for my son Tyler's varsity boys. We beat the first place team Pelham on Friday night. It was senior night and the game was at home. The perfect setting. What a great team. The kids were "over the moon"! We had the "Mad Scientist" come to us from Maine on Wednesday. She did all kinds of magnets with the kids. They really enjoyed it. The program is sponsored by the PTA. Hopefully they will come again next year. This week in reading, we will be doing Unit 4-week 1 in Wonders. Our genre for the story this week is Folktale. The new spelling words are posted on the spelling page of this site. We will have a test on Friday. In math, we continue to work on fractions and area. Keep up the practice for those multiplication facts. It is really helping on our fast math. I have added more teacher suggestions in IXL. The kids are doing a great job in that program. In science, we are learning all about clouds and wind currents. The kids are really enjoying the unit. We made a cloud book this week and we are really good at identifying the different clouds. In social studies, we continue to study the geography of the United States through the GROW program. We are gearing up for our presidential unit which will begin after February vacation. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone. Our targeted mask day is on Monday. Please stay healthy and safe. Again, the kids are doing a great job as they continue to learn and grow in third grade. We are halfway through the school year. It's hard to believe. For the Valentine's party, the kids have chosen to do an ice cream sundae party. I will get the ice cream and will be asking the kids to bring in some different toppings when we get together to discuss the treats. I will send home a list of all the kids' names. The kids can make a decorative box at home for their valentines. Let's see how creative they can get. Enjoy the day everyone. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
