Good morning everyone. It has snowed on my birthday up here on the Mud Hill.
I woke up this morning at 5:45 for the best birthday present ever! Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. The video is just amazing. I will say that a few happy tears were shed. This was the best present anyone could ask for. This birthday will go down in History! Thank you Mrs. Bradley for putting this together. Thank you parents and kids. Your work should be good to go. If you already read the cow story in the Scholastic News(April 13), just read another article or watch the changing Earth video. For spelling you may do 8 illustrations for 8 of your spelling words. I have scheduled a class meeting for tomorrow at 9:30. We will take our spelling test first. I would like you guys to have a comment or question ready as to how you feel your school work has been going. We will go around so everyone gets a turn. Have a great day everybody. All the math today is good to go. Sorry the assignments are so squeezed in on Connected, but that is the only way it will take the information. Your work has been awesome. Keep it up. Remember today is gym day. Also, take a few minutes to study your spelling words. Don't forget to keep journaling in the Google Journal classroom and hit the turn in button. Mrs. Smith said you guys are "rocking" the GROW. Thank you for that. Mrs. Smith will be writing back to you on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the journal class. For your vocabulary sentences today, I would like you to write them on a piece of paper to practice your writing skills. Ha ha, You will all be experts at typing. For math today, do not do the home link box. Math message and math boxes are good. If you have chalk at home, when you do your creative connection, take a picture of your drawing. If not, send me a picture of your pencil sketch. It sounds like you all did fine on the Everyday Math yesterday. You may also print out the math if you have that option. Sometimes drawing and writing with the mouse can be tricky. But, you guys can handle anything I throw your way. Thank you for that. Again, you are all amazing. I am so lucky! Now I can really say, "I know where you live!" Ha ha. We had a fun Easter. We went on a hike with Tyler, Ashley and Blue.
This morning, we are going to start Everyday Math. You will go the NBCS home and click Library Learning Commons. Click on red school house and find Mr. Mudrick's class. Use you password(number, fruit, shape). You will see your math cover. Click on launch. You will see lesson 6-2. Click on that and you will see blue boxes numbered. I want you to do..... Math Message.......Math Boxes........and Homelink You can write on the screen by clicking on the pen down at the bottom. If you click the blue arrow above, you will see an eraser. It may be a little tricky at first, but it is kind of fun once you get the hang of it. Just play around with the tools at the bottom. You can do your work right on the screen. Just have mom or dad check it. Then erase. Tell me how you did just like before. It is just like you do for reading. Your spelling doc is in Google Classroom-2 times each for the 5-3 words. For today, if you want a challenge, put the words Happy Easter on top of your paper and see how many words you can come up with. Remember you can only use the letters that are there. You can't have a word with an o or an i in it. Here are a few to get you started. east, tap, hat. See if you can get a word with six or seven letters. Also, I have put a fun Easter color page on the google class math site. The only thing is, it has to be printed. Easter riddle for today. The class meeting was awesome yesterday. It was so great to see all of your faces and hear your voices. We even got to hear some songs in the afternoon meeting, and we watched Killian's dad rescue a bird in their bathroom.
Today instead of putting your vocabulary words in sentences, just study them like we do in class. Use that time to work on your president speech. Don't forget Mrs. Smith's GROW. My stepmom in New York has been hospitalized. She tested negative for the virus, but she is being treated for pneumonia. She is improving, but it is very difficult being so far away. If you try to call or text please be patient, I may be on the phone to New York. Your work has been awesome. Again, if you are in doubt of an assignment, just work around it. If you all don't read the same article in Scholastic News, it is okay. As long as you are reading. I have place a journal for everyone in google classroom. This way the writing is all in one place. I still want you to respond to reading and math on Connected. Don't forget to tell me if you math was difficult for you. So far you guys are doing amazing. I also created your docs for working on your president speeches. You can work on them a little at a time. They are due on May 4, 2020. Your resources are all posted on this web-site and on NBCShome main page. Mrs. Smith has also created GROW questions for you. I think it will be in a shared google classroom. I haven't checked it out yet. Just remember when you are finished with an assignment, click on the turn in button so I can return to you. Yesterday I built a huge playpen for Blue. Tyler brought her over for a 3 day sleepover. We have so many woods around, I am afraid to let her run loose. So I fenced in just about the whole front yard and threw all of her toys in the pen. Please don't forget to take your spelling test today and send me a picture or tell me how you did. I will be setting up a blank document in google classroom for typing president speeches. If you go to the class web-site, you will see "The Presidents are Coming". Those are the guidelines you will need to put in your speech. You will have the whole month to do this. We will make Mondays the writing time, but you can work on it anytime you want. Remember you have a whole month, so a little at a time. The resources you might need are listed down below. I can't wait to hear about your books that you are reading. Don't forget to create a scavenger hunt for somebody today. It is pouring so you'll probably have to do it from inside. I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face.
