Happy weekend everyone. Finally some beautiful weather where you could be outside. Enjoy the sun until it disappears again.
On Friday, May 24, we will hold our Presidential Reception in the library. The ceremony will start at 1:00. The kids should bring in their costumes or clothes to change in. We will get changed in the classroom. I would love some spare hands to help the kids get ready. If anyone is available around 12:30, that would be great. The presidents will speak in order. After the speeches, we will return to the classroom for some presidential snacks. Everyone is invited to attend. I do have some presidential clothes packed away if anyone is desperate. If your child is portraying a modern president, then a white shirt and tie will be perfect. I also have some bow ties for those in need. I hope to see you on Friday. The kids have learned so much about presidents and the history of our country. I am blown away. In Wonders this week, we will be doing Unit 5, week 5. The genre will be Expository Text. The spelling words are posted on the spelling page. In math, we will be taking our Unit 6 assessment and moving onto Unit 7. Please keep practicing those multiplication facts. All of the kids have chosen a state and we all have a state book. The kids have made their state flags which will be hanging up in the classroom. For a final project for the year, I will be asking the kids to decorate a box fitting for their state, and then I would like them to find at least three things to put in their box from the specific state. Some ideas are... state quarters, t-shirts, hats, flowers or fruits, canned goods or anything manufactured in that state, license plates, rocks or shells, stuffed animals, pictures, etc. Last year, I stepped in and out of the New York box! Ha! The kids will make a small presentation to their classmates. The Whale Watch permission slip will be coming home this week. One parent per child is good for this year. Please hope for a nice day and calm seas. There are different solutions to seasickness if you are prone to that. Sometimes the sea can get pretty rough 30 miles out! We will leave school at 8:15 and return around 4:30 according to the traffic. On the 29th of May, the New England Aquarium will be coming out to do a whale program with the third graders. They will also bring a blow-up life size whale. The kids loved the program last year. We will also be doing the last Aimsweb tests for the year. That will be in reading and math. As the school year comes to a close, the dates for end of the year things start filling in the calendar. It is hard to believe that there are only 30 days of school left.! Have a wonderful week everyone. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
