Happy March everyone. I hope you all had a great vacation. We had a chance to go away with my son and his girlfriend for a few days. We also got away to Maine for two days.
Just a reminder that dentist slips are due this week if you are taking advantage of Dr. Brenner's cleaning day. Also, the book fair is coming up. We will go on Monday and preview the books. Remember, all of the third graders will get a book up to 6.00 value from the Michaelmas account. This is a tradition we started a few years ago. Don't forget the pledges for the Read-A-Thon which is sponsored by the PTA. The money will go to the PTA for all kinds of programs that benefit the kids. The top five classes that make the most money will win free books for the classroom. The Read-A-Thon will take place on Friday, March 8th. We will go the the library with our first grade buddies. The whole month of March, the PBIS committee will be celebrating Kindness Month with the staff and the students. We will be giving out kindness cards and all of the teacher's bulletin boards will be dedicated to kindness. Each individual class will choose a reward to do at the end of the month. We will have four members our our classroom family do a special, "kindness presentation" at the Community Meeting. We will begin our President Unit this week. It will take about two months to get through. It is a very popular unit with the kids. I will introduce the presidents and then the kids will pick a president to study. We will study all of the presidents and their wives. This will actually be a mini History course. At the end of the unit as a culmination, the kids will dress up as their president and make a speech to parents, grandparents, family and friends. Then we will get together for Presidential Punch, Martha Washington cake and some special foods of the presidents. When it close to the end of the unit, I will pick a date for the Presidential Reception. In math, we will continue with fractions and we will keep practicing our facts for fast math. We will be working on our second writing piece. it will be an "opinion" piece. I will do lots of modeling and we will have mini lessons to get us through. March is a very busy month. Please keep in touch for updates and upcoming events. Have a great week everyone. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
