I hope everyone is enjoying their last couple of days of vacation. We spent three days in Lake George and did lots of yard work at home and visited friends and family.
We will be concentrating on our Presidential unit when we get back from vacation. We will be writing our speeches in class. We have about 12 more presidents to go. In reading, we will be starting Unit 5 week 3. Our genre will be expository text. In math, we will be finishing up Unit 6. We continue to do fast math. We will be practicing this week for the SAS test. The kids have practiced the reading session and now we will try out the math. This is a very different assessment than the kids are used to. There is a lot of reading involved and there are lots of open ended questions. The last day of testing will be two hours of writing. Here is the schedule for our testing: Tuesday-May 7th-Reading-8:15-9:30 Wednesday-May 8th-Reading-8:15-9:30 Thursday-May 9th-Math-8:15-9:30 Friday-May 10th-Math-8:15-9:30 Monday-May 13th-Writing-8:05-10:05 Please encourage the kids to do their best. I know they will. I will be sending out a sign-up sheet for snacks that week. There will also be no homework that week. The whale watch will be held on June 7th. Please make sure you have been finger-printed if you are planning to chaperone. Let's hope for good weather. The last two themes of the year will be States and Whales. I will let you know more about that as we get closer to the start of each. Have a great rest of the vacation. I will see everyone on the 29th of April. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
