I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weekend. I plan on going outside and start the major cleanup. The bear is back. He came for a visit on Friday night. I guess it is time to take in the bird feeders. It is so nice to see the sun and to breath in the warmer weather.
In Wonders this week, we will be starting Unit 5 week 1. The genre is Fairy Tales. The kids really like this week's story. In math, we just finished our unit 5 test. The kids did an excellent job. We are now on to Unit 6. This unit will teach us different strategies which are more efficient and more appropriate for solving the same problem. We continue to do our fast math. We are more than half-way through the presidential unit. Our Presidential Reception will take place on the 24th of May in the library. We will begin the ceremonies at 12:50. Remember the kids will need to dress up as their president. We will do our speeches in the library and then go back to the classroom for presidential punch, Martha Washington cake and other foods of the presidents. It will be a fun afternoon. I hope to see all of you there. The kids are very excited. On Friday, with the help of our buddies, we went outside and cleaned up the playground. It is all part of Clean Up Our School Month. We even did our spring cleaning in the classroom. What a great bunch of cleaners and organizers. Our goal is to get 75 Paws, Clean Up cards before vacation. We have 26 already. We will begin practicing for our SAS test which will begin on May 7th. The tests will take place during the week and it will be about two hours each day. Please encourage the kids to do their best and to take the test seriously. I know they will. The kids will be tested in Language Arts and Math. The last test will be a writing assignment. This will be a different kind of assessment. There will be lots of open ended questions and lots of reading. I will post the schedule next week and give much more information on it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week. Comments are closed.

I Believe...Let the kids be kids. Every child has a strength. It is up to the teacher to find it or tap it so they can work to their highest potential. I tend to set the bar very high. Lifetime memories should be made in the classroom and at school. NBCS should be a place where kids enter happy and go home with a smile on their face. I want my kids getting up in the morning begging to go to school! Archives
